Tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Public Policy
The School of Political Studies, within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa, invites applications for one (1) tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in PUBLIC POLICY.
Candidates must demonstrate expertise, as well as a strong research and publication record, in Public Policy (open area of specialization).

The Faculty of Social Sciences comprises nine departments, schools and institutes, which offer undergraduate, master s and doctoral programs in both English and French. With its 10,000 students, 260 full-time professors, and a wide array of programs and research centres, the Faculty of Social Sciences plays a key role at the heart of the University of Ottawa. Its graduate students are trained by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty s Master s and Ph.D. programs.
DUTIES
- Research activities and publication
- Teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Public Administration Programs
- Supervision of graduate students
- Commitment to participating in the educational and administrative activities of the University
- Performing any other activity provided for in the Collective Agreement
QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in Public Policy or a related field
- Ability to teach in Public Policy at the time of appointment
- Ability to teach in both English and French at the time of appointment
- Quality of teaching record
- Quality of publication and research record
BILINGUALISM
As a bilingual institution, the University of Ottawa requires all professors in the Faculty of Social Sciences to demonstrate active bilingualism in English and French before being granted tenure. The working language of the School of Political Studies is French.
The University offers faculty members and their spouses/partners the opportunity to take courses to improve their proficiency in their second language.

SALARY
Salary scale for an Assistant Professor starts at $ 99,377 (as of May 1, 2025)
STARTING DATE
July 1, 2027
