In this role as a Technician in Sport, you will provide technical support for a wide range of activities including undergraduate and postgraduate student projects, practical teaching sessions, research activities, consultancy work, and innovation initiatives.

Working as part of the Clinical Practice and Wellbeing technical team, you will support a variety of subject areas across the College. The team supports a diverse range of teaching, research, and clinical activities, providing specialist technical expertise and maintaining high-quality learning environments.

You will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of laboratories and specialist facilities. You will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, and operating a broad range of sport and exercise science equipment, including gas analysis systems, motion capture technology, force platforms, ergometers, and muscle function assessment systems such as isokinetic dynamometers.

You will support laboratory and clinical-based activities by assisting with physiological testing, including metabolic, cardiorespiratory, and neuromuscular assessments. You will also contribute to injury assessment and rehabilitation activities, ensuring equipment and facilities are safe, operational, and available to meet teaching and research requirements.

Working closely with academic and technical colleagues, you will help create a positive and supportive learning environment for students and staff. You will provide technical guidance during practical sessions and research activities, ensuring that equipment is used safely and effectively and that relevant procedures and protocols are followed.

The role also involves maintaining laboratories and specialist facilities, managing equipment inventories, assisting with procurement processes, and contributing to the continuous improvement of technical services, systems, and working practices. You will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure an efficient and professional technical service that supports the University's teaching, research, and knowledge exchange activities.
