TITLE

Teaching Assistant - PHGY 351 - Research Techniques in Physiology - Winter 2027

Position Summary:

Help run the weekly quizzes and marking.

Lab related Work :

Prepare the experiments and demonstrate critical steps for the labor experiments listed below:

  • Tissue culture cells growing and propagation site directed mutagenesis -PCR-
  • Bacterial transformation
  • Minipreps
  • Restriction digestion and analysis
  • DNA sequencing analysis
  • Transient transfection and mounting slides for confocal microscopy

Help to prepare the flow cytometry datasets needed for the data analysis sessions.

Share the flow cytometry datasets with the students, ensuring all students managed to download the data ahead of the class.

Advise students in advance of the class how to download the free trial version of FlowJo software, troubleshooting any technical issues.

Attend the lab sessions, monitor the chat section of the Zoom meeting to answer questions and troubleshoot problems.

Grade lab reports

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. in Science
  • Registered graduate student at McGill University
  • Experience in protein trafficking, cell culture and microscopy
  • Effective communication skills in English are essential.
