Eligibility

Senior Research Associate in the College of Engineering (COE), Center for Automotive Research (CAR) who initiates and leads research and development efforts focused on experimental research of learning based controls, powertrain systems and controls, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), autonomous vehicles and related systems; plans, conducts, demonstrates, and documents sponsored research project and activities, functioning as the technical expert, in the areas of vehicle efficiency, safety and security technologies, general areas of control systems, reinforcement learning, machine learning, simulation, sensing, and estimation technologies; develops procedures for experimental data analysis, recognizes and promotes the interdisciplinary nature of powertrain systems, intelligent transportation systems and autonomous vehicle research across multiple departments and research centers; serves as co-Principal Investigator on research grants and contracts; assists in the preparation of research proposals; serves as liaison with research sponsoring agencies as well as with other research and educational institutes; prepares technical reports submission to sponsoring agencies; writes journal and conference articles; makes presentations at conferences and symposia; mentors and coordinates graduate students in analyzing and documenting their research results and activities and projects; develops and maintains course contents; pursues new research programs; supports teaching and training in learning based controls, safety and security of autonomous systems.
