Your position

We are looking for a motivated and technically skilled Research / Lab Assistant (80%) to join a newly funded project investigating how tau pathology disrupts neural circuit function during the early stages of Alzheimer's disease.

The project combines mouse behaviour, chronic multi-region electrophysiological recordings (Neuropixels), viral approaches, and analysis of large-scale neural population activity to study how pathological changes in neural activity emerge and contribute to cognitive impairment.

  • Perform and support experimental procedures in mice, including stereotaxic surgeries, behavioural training and testing and chronic in vivo electrophysiological recordings
  • Support histological processing and sample preparation for ex vivo experiments
  • Support the monitoring of animals before, during, and after experimental procedures

Your profile

  • Valid certification to perform animal experiments in Switzerland (LTK1 or equivalent qualification)
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with in vivo experiments in rodents, gained through a technical apprenticeship, veterinary technician training, or a Bachelor's/Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Experience working with rodents in a research environment, including animal handling, welfare monitoring, and experimental documentation
  • Experience with stereotaxic surgery in rodents
  • Good communication skills in English

Preferred

  • Experience with in vivo electrophysiology and/or neural recording techniques
  • Experience with behavioural neuroscience experiments
  • Ability to communicate in German is an advantage

We offer you

  • A 2-year fixed-term position (80%)
  • Training in advanced in vivo neuroscience techniques, including chronic Neuropixels recordings
  • Opportunity to contribute to establishing new experimental workflows and longitudinal studies
  • An international and collaborative research environment
