The Doctoral College at Manchester Metropolitan University is home to a vibrant community of doctoral students whose work drives world-leading research and innovation. We are seeking an organised, proactive and customer-focused Research Degrees Administrator to join our Doctoral Services team and help deliver an outstanding experience for doctoral students, academic colleagues and external partners.

About the Role

As part of a supportive and collaborative team, you will play a key role in the effective administration of research degree programmes. Working closely with academic and professional services colleagues, you will help ensure processes are delivered efficiently, accurately and in line with University regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing enquiries from doctoral students, academic staff and other stakeholders, providing clear and timely advice and guidance.
  • Supporting administrative processes throughout the doctoral student lifecycle.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and contributing to statutory and institutional reporting.
  • Providing support for committees, quality assurance activities and performance monitoring.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of systems, procedures and services within Doctoral Services.

About the Team

Doctoral Services sits within the Research and Innovation Directorate and provides specialist support for doctoral students and academic colleagues across the University. The team plays a vital role in delivering an excellent doctoral student experience while ensuring compliance, quality assurance and effective programme administration.

You will join a friendly and experienced team that values collaboration, innovation and excellent service delivery.

About You

We are looking for a confident administrator with excellent organisational and communication skills, who enjoys working in a busy environment and managing a varied workload.

You will have:

  • Experience working in an administrative role involving complex processes and procedures.
  • Experience providing information, advice and guidance while ensuring compliance with policies, regulations or established procedures.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build effective working relationships.
  • Good digital skills, including experience of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • A proactive, flexible and collaborative approach.
  • A commitment to excellent customer service and continuous improvement.
