Area of research or title of the research project: Biological soil crusts as sentinels of ecosystem health and function in central and Mediterranean Europe (CrustHealth)

Project Description:

The CrustHealth project investigates the role of biological soil crusts as indicators of soil health and functioning across different European climatic contexts. The research will analyze how abiotic stressors such as salinity, microplastics, and trampling affect the biodiversity, structure, and functions of communities associated with biocrusts. Field surveys, physicochemical soil analyses, controlled experiments, DNA metabarcoding, metatranscriptomics, and bioinformatic analyses will be integrated. The aim is to understand the effects of these stressors on soil fertility, stability, and biodiversity, and to identify potential indicators useful for ecosystem monitoring and conservation.

Self-Declarations:

The self-declarations requested in the course of the application are made in accordance with art. 46 and 47 of DPR 445/2000.

Italian and European Community citizens: can use self-declarations without restriction.
Non-EU-citizens legally residing in Italy: can use self-declarations for states, facts, and personal qualities certifiable by Italian public bodies. For others, certificates from the competent foreign authority are required.
Documents in foreign languages: A translation into Italian, certified by the competent Italian diplomatic or consular representation or by an official translator, must be attached for documents not in English, French, German, or Spanish.

Untrue declarations are punishable under the Penal Code and special laws on the subject.

Completing and Submitting the Application:

Important Notes:

Validation Options:

At the conclusion of the online application process, candidates have the following options to validate the application prior to submission:

Self-declaration: Print, sign, scan, and attach the statement along with a copy of your identity document.
Digital signature: Download the complete application PDF, digitally sign it, and attach it.
SPID or CIE authentication: If accessing via SPID or CIE, completion of the form is valid without a formal signature.

Once one of these validation methods is completed, the online registration procedure is finalized. A confirmation message will be sent via e-mail. If you do not receive this message, contact the Personnel Office Academic Staff immediately.
