is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished full-time Research

Associate

to contribute to and advance research activities in the field of Microbiology and Immunology.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the successful candidate will develop and conduct research projects, provide scientific leadership and supervision within the research team, and support the achievement of the laboratory's research objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for the key responsibilities outlined below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with the Research Supervisor to develop and conduct research projects and is responsible for achieving the project s objectives. As required, the Research Associate is responsible for the functional supervision of the Research Assistant(s) and/or Undergraduate/Graduate Research Assistant.
  • Develop and conduct research projects and protocols, processes and procedures as delegated by the Research Supervisor.
  • Establish the design and development of research methods, data collection and analysis, and the interpretation of results.
  • Write theoretical or methodological reports, papers or articles related to research activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant applications.
  • Organize, distribute and verify the work of research staff and participate in their training, including Research Assistants and Undergraduate/Graduate Student Research Assistants.
  • Perform various administrative tasks related to research projects, including documentation, record maintenance, coordination of project activities, and preparation of research-related materials.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • PhD in Microbiology and Immunology.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant postdoctoral research experience in Microbiology and Immunology or a closely related field.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with Animal infection models, flow cytometry, ELISA, animal colony management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research environment.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring research personnel and trainees.

Language requirement:

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.

The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level

This position is covered by the Association of McGill University Research Employees (AMURE) collective agreement.
