Postdoctoral Scholar

Job Summary:

This position is an entry level position to perform research and quantify the market potential for solid carbon from turquoise hydrogen in construction materials. The work includes developing a material flow analysis framework for solid carbon update in the U.S. asphalt and concrete markets, analyzing how solid carbon incorporation affects the mechanical, thermal, and durability performance of these materials, mapping performance thresholds such as strength, modulus, and fatigue against incorporation rates to define safe and effective use limits, designing pavement and building elements to quantify material savings from the single element up to the community and network scale, developing regional building and infrastructure archetypes, estimating solid carbon demand by material type and region, and preparing technical reports and journal manuscripts. The role also involves coordinating project data and analyses and presenting results to the stakeholders. A Ph.D. in civil, structural, or materials engineering or a closely related field is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • 80%: Conducts experiments and performs research under the close supervision of an Assistant Professor.
  • 15%: Coordinating project data and analysis with the research team and presenting results to stakeholders.
  • 5%: Ongoing training and professional development

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education Level: Ph.D.
  • Specific Degree: Terminal degree and related coursework in civil, structural, materials engineering or a closely related field
  • Specific Experience: Material flow analysis and materials performance.
