The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.

Join our geriatric pharmacoepidemiology group and use Sweden s extensive register data to investigate questions about medication use, safety, Covid-19 and deprescribing among older adults. You will work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary research environment at MEB, with opportunities to develop independent research and collaborate with epidemiologists, biostatisticians and clinicians. The group is led by Professor Kristina Johnell, whose leadership is characterised by a collegial approach, responsiveness and support for researchers in developing their own ideas. Your mission

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will plan and conduct studies in geriatric pharmacoepidemiology using large-scale register data. Your main responsibilities will include data management, statistical analysis, interpretation of results, and preparation of scientific articles. You will be expected to take an active role throughout the research process, from developing research questions and study designs to publication and dissemination of findings. The position also involves supporting the research group s activities by contributing to grant applications, supervision, and national and international research collaborations.

This is a fixed-term position for two years, with the possibility of extension.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have equivalent scientific competence.

Requirements:

A doctoral degree, or equivalent scientific competence, in medical science, epidemiology, pharmacology or a related field.
Research experience in pharmacoepidemiology, ageing epidemiology, or a related field, documented through publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
Ability to independently extract, manage and analyse large datasets.
Documented experience of statistical analysis using R, Stata, SAS or equivalent software.
Excellent spoken and written English.

The following are considered merits:

In-depth subject knowledge in geriatric pharmacoepidemiology, ageing epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology or a related field.
Experience of working with routinely collected data, such as health registers, electronic health records, quality registers or claims data.

You may also apply if you have not yet completed your doctoral degree, provided that all degree requirements are fulfilled before the employment decision. This must be documented by your main supervisor, director of doctoral studies or equivalent. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
