Opportunity Overview

Postdoctoral Research Fellow: Cancer Neuroscience and Intercellular Mitochondria Transfer

The Grelet Lab in the Department of Oncology Science at the NCI-designated OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Postdoctoral Fellow to study cancer neuroscience and metabolism. Our NIH-funded research program investigates the dynamic interactions between the nervous system and cancer, with a primary focus on intercellular transfer of mitochondria. We recently established new methods for the lineage tracing of intercellular mitochondrial transfer during cancer metastasis (Hoover et al., Nature, 2025).

The successful candidate will drive cross-disciplinary projects exploring how cancer innervation and these subsequent mitochondrial acquisitions promote metabolic reprogramming and metastatic progression.

We operate through comprehensive cross-analysis integration pipelines spanning from in silico modeling to in vivo validation. Special emphasis is placed on advanced molecular biology and mouse models of metastasis.

Key Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in cancer biology, neuroscience, molecular biology, or a highly related discipline.
  • Outstanding track record of publications.
  • Rigorous drive for scientific excellence.
  • Extensive expertise with in vivo mouse models.
  • Extensive expertise with complex molecular biology techniques.

Laboratory Environment:

Our laboratory provides a highly collaborative environment equipped with cutting-edge instrumentation for molecular imaging and physiological assays.
