Full-time 4 years fixed term position, located on the Camperdown Campus at the School of Mathematics and Statistics

Base Salary, Academic Level B $132,533 $157,381 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The School of Mathematics and Statistics is currently seeking a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics who will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning design, delivery, and evaluation in pure mathematics while continuing to build research contribution, expertise, connections, and impact. This role is a replacement for a staff member who is on a fellowship.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Work closely with other School members in applied mathematics, or related areas
• Conduct high-quality research in applied mathematics, or related areas
• Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in mathematics for students from different disciplinary backgrounds
• Supervise and coordinate graduate and undergraduate students
• Apply for external funding.

About you

• A PhD (or near completion) in mathematics, applied mathematics, or a related area
• Evidence of independent research, compatible with the standards at The University of Sydney
• Evidence of ability, versatility, and commitment to excellence in teaching.
