Job Overview

The Director of Faculty and Academic Support at Georgetown Law, Georgetown University, manages a team of administrative support professionals to provide efficient and comprehensive support to the Law Center Faculty. This position exists to work closely with faculty to determine their academic and administrative needs while overseeing support assignments to ensure an equitable distribution of work. The Director builds relevant policies, upholds compliance standards, and partners with other academic offices during the summer term to deliver coordinated administrative and operational support. By establishing strong rapport and fostering collaboration across departments, the incumbent supports campus-wide service enhancements and makes strategic staffing recommendations to ensure continuity of faculty and academic services.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Directs team operations and delegation for 10-12 Faculty and Academic Support personnel, including two Team Leads and an Assistant Director, ensuring seamless service delivery and high operational standards.
  • Develops strong partnerships and facilitates collaboration across Law Center departments to enhance and support communication with faculty and streamline academic operations.
  • Establishes strong faculty relationships to assess support needs, gather actionable feedback, and maintain equitable workload distribution across the team.
  • Leads the full-cycle talent management process for the recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of the Faculty Support Team to maintain high-quality service delivery.
  • Manages departmental financial oversight by preparing annual budget projections, monitoring budget-to-actuals, and approving all budget expenses to ensure fiscal accountability.

Work Interactions

The Director will report to the Deputy Chief Operating Officer. This position is expected to meet regularly with Law Center faculty and will interact with all members of the Law Center community including key Law Center offices such as Admissions, Office of Academic Affairs, Financial Affairs, Human Resources, and the Registrar. They must maintain productive working relationships with administrators throughout the campus and ensure that the department is responsive to faculty needs.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required and 10 years of progressive administrative and/or customer service experience.
  • Proven management experience, with a strong emphasis on effective team leadership.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills to navigate complex challenges and support productive collaborations.
  • Strong project management, communication, and customer service expertise, delivered with a high standard of professionalism.
  • Advanced proficiency is required in the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, spreadsheets, instructional technologies such as Canvas, and cloud storage solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a legal environment or higher education.
  • Knowledge of WorkDay and budgeting is preferred.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$54,616.00 - $100,493.33
