Job Description:

Summary:

The Center for Leadership & Community Engagement (CLCE), is seeking undergraduate students to fill the

Community Service-Learning Program (CSLP) Peer Mentor

position.

CLCE provides students with the opportunity to incorporate meaningful community service into their academic coursework. While there are several programs our offices run, this position will support Community-Based Staff on the Community-Service Learning Program (CSLP).

Essential Functions:

  • Attend 2-hour Mentor training to learn role and responsibilities.
  • Support in classroom visits to promote the CSLP program (as your schedule allows).
  • Attend and support in-person events for CSLP, including the Nonprofit Networking Fair, Orientation sessions, Midsemester and Final Reflections.
  • Mentor and manage an assigned sub-cohort of CSLP Participants (6-10 students) throughout semester.
  • Monthly one-on-one check-ins with each member of your assigned group: ensure participants are having successful communication and engagement with their organization(s) and are on-track for service hours and logging per program requirements, ensure participants have arranged agreement with their professor on a final project or presentation.
  • Engage in CSLP Teams group chat and meet biweekly with Program Staff.
  • Escalate issues to Program Assistant and Program Director when necessary.
  • Track progress towards CSLP requirements in an excel tracker and on Canvas course.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Part-time.

32 hours per semester.

Salary Range:

$18.40 per hour.

Preferred Ecucation and Experience:

  • Previous CSLP experience is heavily preferred.
  • Background knowledge of community-based learning/service-learning pedagogy.
  • Experience working with non-profits.
  • Commitment to social justice issues, particularly with a JEDI (justice, equity, diversity, inclusion) framework.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
