Coordinator of Financial Aid (Mansfield Campus)

The Coordinator of Financial Aid at Ohio State Mansfield oversees student financial aid operations for the campus. The coordinator works to promote student success through financial education and access to resources by providing guidance to current students, prospective students, and their families, on navigating the financial aid process and enhancing financial literacy. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

General Student Support

Counsel and educate students and families on financial aid options, application processes, and financial literacy to support informed financial decisions
Guide students through financial aid appeals
Partner with high school guidance counselors, McKinney-Vento Liaisons, and social workers to assist underserved students in identifying financial resources that may be barriers to higher education

Military-Connected Student Support

Serve as a resource for military-connected students, assisting them in securing Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits and providing education on state awards as applicable
Work closely with the MilVets Office in Columbus to ensure the timely processing of military paperwork and VA benefits

Liaison Role

Serve as a liaison with administration, academic departments, the Columbus campus, and other stakeholders on financial aid processes
Build relationships with external partners- including local high schools and community organizations- to create a support network for students accessing financial aid

Scholarship Management

Implement and manage the scholarship selection and communication process for the Mansfield campus, prioritizing compliance with institutional policies
Research and resolve financial aid issues, recommend scholarship program policies, and oversee their implementation
Partners with faculty committees to award academic scholarships and oversee emergency grant processes and the disbursement of their funds

Financial and Accounting Oversight

Oversee financial and accounting operations, internal controls, and fiscal policies
Develop and maintain the student success budget, supporting budget preparation, forecasting, and strategic planning

Supervision

Supervises team of student employees

Additional responsibilities include:

Creating and presenting financial aid and financial literacy related workshops to students, families, and community organizations, etc.
Visiting First Year Experience (FYE) classes to educate students on financial aid, financial health, and personal finance management.
Utilize various data systems to manage tasks efficiently, including maintaining admissions and registration records, and performing financial aid queries.
Act as the administrator for Scholarship Universe, coordinating scholarship opportunities.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures
Maintain the integrity of the unit's physical assets, including managing the disposal or sale of fixed assets and coordinating physical inventories.

The Coordinator also serves on various committees and performs other duties as assigned to support the financial aid and student success missions of the campus.

Additional Information

The Ohio State University at Mansfield offered its first classes in 1958. The Mansfield campus sits on 640 acres and shares the campus with North Central State College. The campus is a thriving model for sustainability and environmental/natural resources experiential education and hands-on research. The campus has a 20-acre sugar bush used for maple syrup production; vernal pools, pine plantations, wetlands, and stream heads; and an ecolab collaboration with the School of Environment and Natural Resources. The two institutions have their own administrative leadership and governance structure, but partner through several shared services, including security, campus recreation, facilities, and several student events and programs.

Ohio State Mansfield currently enrolls 828 students who are taught and supported by 28 tenure track or tenured professors. The campus focuses on the success of a student academically (small class size; innovative instruction methods; undergraduate research opportunities; easy access to faculty and staff; new programs and facilities), but also the success of students as a person.
