Opportunity Overview

TITLE: Communications Assistant - Web Design

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Transformation and Culture, the Student Communications Assistant Web Design supports the creation and redesign of the Faculty of Education s website and associated unit pages.

Help develop web pages that improve how users find, understand, and engage with Faculty information.

Duties:

  • Create and redesign pages under the Senior Advisor s creative direction.
  • Improve page layouts, navigation, and content organization.
  • Assist with content migration and the development of new website sections.
  • Apply Faculty and McGill visual identity and accessibility standards.
  • Gather feedback from users and Faculty units to inform design choices.
  • Test new and redesigned pages for usability before publication.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Experience or coursework in web design and digital content creation
  • Familiarity with Drupal or McGill s Web Management System (WMS), or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to organize information into clear, visually engaging layouts.
  • Understanding of visual identity and digital accessibility principles.
  • Strong collaboration skills and responsiveness to feedback.
  • Strong written English and attention to detail.
