About The Role

Clinical Skills Tutor Lecturer (Education & Scholarship), Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

We have a permanent, part time (0.4 FTE) position available, to commence in October 2026 based at the Clinical Skills Resource Centre, Heavitree Hospital, Exeter EX1 2ED.

About the role

The Faculty wishes to recruit a permanent, part time 0.4 FTE Clinical Skills Tutor (Education and Scholarship), to support the delivery of all aspects of clinical skills, including communication skills, and simulation to year 4 and year 5 Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree. Working days will be Wednesday and Friday.

The post will include delivery of predesigned sessions to medical students following the BMBS timetable.

Salary

The salary will be Grade F, 43,482 per annum pro rata subject to knowledge, skills and experience.

About you

The successful applicant will possess sufficient breadth of core knowledge and depth of specialist knowledge in their discipline, demonstrated by registration with GMC (Doctor) NMC or equivalent in advanced practice in health care, to teach and support learning in this academic area and develop teaching programmes. They will use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students. They will participate in and develop external networks, for example to contribute to student recruitment, facilitate outreach work, or build relationships for future activities.

The successful applicants will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching. They will have experience or be familiar with the teaching methods of delivering high fidelity simulation and need to be a team player. Ideally the applicants will maintain a clinical post in addition to this teaching post, keeping them as current as possible with the changing nature of healthcare and clinical procedures. Staff at this level may wish to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
