Job Description

This position is responsible for the critical priorities, initiatives, and activities that relate to research initiatives as directed by the Vice Chancellor of the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) in support of the LSU A&M research enterprise. This position will support the ORED VCR by translating strategic research goals into streamlined, sustainable operational policies that support faculty, researchers, and institutional priorities across LSU A&M research enterprise. This will require effective communication, coordination, and integration of research strategy, research development, and research administration.

Job Responsibilities

Coordinates the institutional goals with implementation strategies and operational policies that define the research mission of LSU A&M under the VCR. Responsible for ensuring the VCR is briefed and has all of the preparatory materials to make decisions and participate in meetings that promote the University s research interest. This includes leading coordination among ORED s operational functions and the academic and research units across LSU A&M s research enterprise. Continuously evaluate and modernize policy frameworks and service delivery to reduce administrative burden on principal investigators (PIs). Partner with the VCR to formulate and execute institutional research growth strategies, metrics, and multi-year operational plans. (30%)

Lead and advance initiatives across the LSU A&M research enterprise by creating implementation plans in a coordinated and strategic manner; track strategic initiatives and processes; recommend actions and provide advice to the VCR on issues that limit research productivity of LSU A&M. Serve as a liaison and resource with other University units and external agencies. As the liaison for ORED, this position will work closely and collaboratively to manage and facilitate communication between the office and other members of University Administration, faculty, staff, consultants and external stakeholders as needed or requested. Build a culture of continuous learning, customer-service excellence and career advancement for research administration and staff. (30%)

Lead the dissemination of LSU A&M wide research policies and guidelines that enhance research productivity to meet research goals. Responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the LSU A&M research enterprise that highlight the value of research to the stakeholder community. (30%)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience; Progressively responsible administrative leadership experience within an R1 or higher education research environment.
