Job description

Permanent, 37 hours per week

Part-time hours of 0.8 FTE (29.6 hours) or above may be considered

We are seeking to appoint two Alumni Engagement Officers to help deliver a coordinated, institution-wide approach to alumni engagement at the University of Huddersfield. These are new roles within Marketing, Communications and Student Recruitment, created to strengthen relationships with our alumni community and increase alumni involvement in University priorities.

The two posts will share a common purpose but will have complementary areas of emphasis: one will focus primarily on alumni communications and content, and the other on relationships, events and volunteering. Applicants are welcome to indicate whether they have a particular interest in either area.

As an Alumni Engagement Officer, you will coordinate and deliver activity that supports graduate outcomes, employability, employer engagement, student success, reputation and global connectivity.

The communications and content-focused post will have a particular emphasis on developing engaging written, digital and video content, supporting alumni communications and campaigns, and helping to share alumni stories across appropriate channels.

The relationships, events and volunteering-focused post will have a particular emphasis on building alumni networks and developing opportunities for alumni to contribute through mentoring, networking, events, guest lectures, curriculum enrichment and employer engagement.

Both postholders will work closely with colleagues across Schools and Professional Services, respond to alumni enquiries, maintain accurate alumni records and use data and insight to support effective activity and evaluation. You will join a new, small alumni engagement team led by the Alumni Engagement Manager and will help establish a professional, responsive and positive experience for alumni.

Educated to degree level or with equivalent professional experience, you will have experience in stakeholder engagement, relationship management, customer engagement, communications or a comparable role.

You will be able to coordinate projects or activities involving a range of stakeholders, deliver communications or customer-focused services, and maintain accurate records, databases or CRM systems. Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills are essential, together with the ability to build productive relationships, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

You will be collaborative, customer-focused and attentive to detail, with good digital and IT skills and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, excellent customer service, and the University s strategy, vision and values.

We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties).

The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all. Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Leader, Stonewall Top 100 Employer, Athena Swan Silver Award holder and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.

Informal enquiries are welcome and can be made to Matt Burton, Director of Marketing, Communications and Student Recruitment, at m.k.burton@hud.ac.uk

If you are a current student at the University, you are welcome to apply for part-time roles of 16 hours or less per week, unless you are a part-time postgraduate student, in which case you can also apply for full time roles, subject to any visa requirements.
