Summary of Job Duties:

Basic Functions

The accountant is responsible for the precise oversight of cash, ensuring that all incoming revenue and outgoing expenditures are accurately recorded and reconciled.

Caring Campus Responsibilities: As a member of the UACCB community, each employee is responsible for advancing the Caring Campus culture to enhance student connection and success and to embody the campus purpose: Improve Lives. Key duties include adhering to the campus name badge policy, treating all visitors as guests, engaging with the campus community by reviewing institutional communications, participating in campus events, and supporting a collaborative, positive workplace environment.

Position Duties

  • 15% - Handle Banking Transactions: Complete auxiliary deposits and write up Bank Hoc transactions. Verify daily bank transactions for each account.
  • 5% - Complete EIB s: Complete Bank statement EIB s into Workday.
  • 10% - Asset Accounting: Work on Asset reporting along CFO.
  • 20% - Reconcile Bank Accounts: Balance bank statements for all checking and agency accounts monthly.
  • 10% - Pay and Reconcile Invoices: Record invoice payments and balance accounts receivable monthly.
  • 10% - Verify Cash Drawers: Complete cash audits for all UACCB Cash drawers and inventory for Cosmetology. Read copier and postage meters monthly while completing journals to verify charge amounts are charged out correctly.
  • 10% - Journal Entries: Key journal entries.
  • 10% - AASIS Reporting: Complete revenue AASIS reporting to state.
  • 5% - Schedule Banks Transactions: Make any bank transfers and complete out-going wires.
  • 5% - Unclaimed property: Report unclaimed property to state yearly.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge

  • Principles and practices of higher education administration, particularly within the community college mission.
  • Federal, state, and local policies and regulations affecting higher education (e.g., FERPA, ADA/Section 504, Title IV).
  • Budget development, fiscal management, and grant administration.
  • Strategies to support student access and success.
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and NACUBO (National Association of College and University Business Officers) guidelines
  • Knowledge of Federal IV Aid and Cash Management of aid
  • Knowledge of State Aid and Cash Management of aid
  • Understanding of the Banking System

Skills

  • Works great in a group environment
  • Conflict resolution, negotiation, and consensus building.
  • Strong communication oral, written, and interpersonal with diverse audiences.

Abilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in accounting
